Art didn't come easy for Linda McCord. In fact her husband, Curly said "Honey, art is obviously not your thing, so why don't you find another hobby". This only determined her to try harder. She attended American River College in Sacramento, California where she studied design and drawing. It took five years and a lot of hard work, but Linda was finally able to frame, sign and sell her work. She said, "Suddenly I could see light and shadow, form and shapes. Once I drew a face, I knew where I belonged." McCord started taking awards regionally, then went on to take numerous national and international awards.

She attended Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington where she later became a part-time art instructor. Her work is in the permanent collection of Coos Art Museum and Grants Pass Museum of Art in Oregon, Saint John's Lutheran Church in California and Lower Columbia College in Washington. Her numerous exhibits include Barrett House Galleries in NY, International Society of Acrylic Painters and Haggin Art Museum in CA, National League of American Pen Women in AR., North East Watercolor Society in New York, Art Kudos (international online exhibit), New England Watercolor Society 11th Biannual, MA, Showcase '92 and '93 in Oregon, Paper in Particular in Missouri, Pacific States Printing and Drawing Exhibit in Hawaii, CAL '88 and '89, Chico Art Center, Saint John's Religious Arts (international) all in California. Alexander Museum in Louisiana, and Sinclair College in Pennsylvania. She was an invitational artist at Museum of the Ozarks NALP winners in Arkansas, and "The Night Tacoma Danced" at Tacoma Art Museum in Washington. Linda is a signature member of International Society of Acrylic Painters and a signature member od northwest Watercolor Society.

McCord is extremely discipline in her work and is willing to take creative risks. She is accustomed to completing commissioned work within set boundaries and stays with an assignment through completion. She is imaginative, competitive and has a never give up attitude.
